They are ready for their new homes at around 4-6 weeks old. By that time they have developed a competent immune system, are eating on their own and have developed social skills. One or two guinea pigs? Guinea pigs are social herd animals that enjoy the company of another guinea pig. It is a common myth that two male guinea pigs will fight. Rather it depends on the personality of each individual guinea pig than sex, age etc. Most guinea pigs will great along great and will enjoy each others company of having a cage companion to be with and love. This is to insure a happy and healthy life for your guinea pigs. Your guinea pigs will still bond with you even if you have paired up two and even three guinea pigs housed together in the same cage. It is best to get the largest cage you can get or make. When our males from each litter are weaned I place them together with other males so that I can insure that they do get along with each other before you purchase them. I even have adult pigs housed together that get along great. Haired guinea pigs or Haired Skinny/Baldwin gene carriers will even go great housed together with hairless guinea pigs and they may even cuddle for extra warmth. It is a myth that haired guinea pigs will pick on hairless guinea pigs. The best possible match is usually between two babies/young pigs or an adult and a baby/young pig. Adults can also be compatible as long as they are introduced properly. Hairless Guinea Pigs to your home includes: A loving sweet healthy hairless guinea pig for many years to come. A written Health Guaranteed: 1 year guarantee on hereditary or congenital defect Health is guaranteed prior to shipping or pickup at my home Shipping: Shipping is available via airlines within USA, Canada and International. I can ship with Continental or other airlines weather permitting. For International shipping we will not ship to a country with quarantine required such as the UK United kingdom-England, Australia, and New Zealand. If you want to get them to the UK you would have to have an agent, friend or relative from Europe in Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and France etc to import them for you. They can either ship them to you via an airline, ferry or if you can come to pick them up. There is free movement between the EU and the UK for guinea pigs so they would not have to go into quarantine. This would be the only way to get them from me otherwise you can find a breeder in Europe that can ship them to you. I can ship to the following places: France, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Czech Republic and anywhere else that doesn't require quarantine. We have already shipped our cavies internationally to Russia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands/Holland, Germany, France and Finland. You may contact your countries ministry/embassy to find out all the requirements to ship the guinea pigs there. I can also contact the consulate here. Some countries only allow a certain amount of animals to be sent at one time. You may also want to contact the Veterinary Services there that service the airport and find out their requirements too. If you are in California and you can't come to our caviary to see our cavies then we can possibly drive to deliver them at the cost of gas. We will occasionally go to cavy shows in California and will be able to deliver there at no cost to you. Other places we go to occasionally is in Arizona, Tucson and Nevada, Las Vegas and Reno. We can deliver them to these places or somewhere on the way. We also travel by plane or we drive to Florida and Pennsylvania once a year. Shipping Cavies: The guinea pig/s will be shipped in an airline approved carrier with plenty of food, veggies, hay and water. I will provide a bag of the guinea pig’s current food attached to the outside of the carrier. This food can be used to help the guinea pigs adjust to its new food by doing so gradually. When I book the flight I will provide you with their flight numbers, departure time/location, arrival time/location, destination time/location and the number of the selected airline to contact as well as the confirmation/AirWay Bill number of the flight booked. Shipping Cost: Shipping runs from $85.00-170.00 or more depending on which airline, crate size, weight, etc. I usually ship with Frontier or Continental airlines. Continental are temperature controlled so they can ship anytime. The price is $126.00 for up to 9 pounds. You can have up to about 3 or 4 guinea pigs at that price. If it goes over 9 + pounds it is $200.00 for up to 50 pounds, but you can have more cavies shipped and 2 or more shipping crates for the same ticket/shipping price as long as it doesn’t go over 50 pounds. If you want to get fewer cavies then you may want to choose the one that is $126.00 for up to 9 pounds. Frontier airlines is about $95.00 for up to 50 pounds, but they do have temperature restrictions and require a health certificate. Continental airlines does not require a Veterinary Health Certificate, but if you choose to get one it is $60.00 at my Vet for any number of cavies that you want to ship. A Veterinary Health Certificate is required to ship by most other airlines. International shipping is more and it runs from $300 and up. I would then ship with Lufthansa or Delta airlines. The health certificate is made out by my Veterinarian stating that the guinea pigs are clear from any illnesses, contagious diseases and a clean bill of health. You can also apply insurance for shipping if you want it but it will cost a little bit more depending on how much you want to insure them for. The cost to insure the guinea pigs with Continental Airlines is only .50 cents per $100.00 of the cost that you paid in value for the guinea pigs. They will need the health certificate if you want to insure your guinea pigs for shipping. The cost for the transport carrier for shipping runs from $25.00-$60.00 depending on size, style and etc. The gas fee for shipping the cavies with the airlines from Los Angeles International airport(LAX) is $20.00 as gas is very expensive here in California and the airport is a bit of a distance from our house. Information needed for shipping: You may call or E-mail me your location of Airports near you where you will be picking up the guinea pigs at. You may also give me your zip code and the airline will tell me the nearest airport they go to near you. I will always contact Continental Airlines first. Continental Airlines does not require a health certificate unless you choose to get one. I may also contact other airlines at your request. Payment: We now accept PayPal for deposits and payments. |
